Motivation is the key to empowerment. How do you motivate your team members, to make them perform excellently and deliver top-notched results, time and again? Do what great leaders do!
What do great leaders do?
Great leaders motivate
Great leaders show direction for growth, both for the organization and individuals
Great leaders treat people with respect and dignity
Great leaders bring out the best in their team
Most importantly, great leaders SERVE, for the interest of the common good of all.
Which of these traits resonate with your leadership style?
Are you the dynamic 'all in one' growth, master influencer or the tough, controlling boss? Well, it's not hard to know. Just observe your team's performance and the answers will be rolling down, soon before long.
Here are a few things you need to notice, when you are a controlling leader and not an empowering one:
You always believe that your ideas are the best
You find it hard negotiating with your team members
Team members will not find it easy offering suggestions
Team members will not be dedicated and loyal
Organizational growth will cease
As a great leader, motivating your team members and allowing them achieve their true potential is a way to drive growth for the organization and the individual members and to do this, everyone must be given the chance to feel that they are part of the organization.
After all, to get team members motivated, you need to know what motivates them and you cannot know this by thinking for yourself – you need to get them involved in the process; and this you can do in different ways.
If you are struggling to get the best out of your team members, and you want to make things right, it may be worthwhile to start by asking yourself these questions:
(Note: You may individualize any or all of these questions for best results).

What needs to be true of others for me to let go?
